【摘要】:ThisdocumentspecifiesmethodsoftestforthedeterminationoftheAtterberglimitsofasoil.TheAtterberglimitscomprisetheliquidlimit,plasticlimitandshrinkagelimit.Theselimitsarealsocalledconsistencylimits.Thisdocumentcoversthedeterminationoftheliquidlimitandtheplasticlimitonly.Theliquidlimitisthewatercontentatwhichasoilchangesfromaliquidtoaplasticstate.Thisdocumentdescribesthedeterminationoftheliquidlimitofaspecimenofnaturalsoil,orofaspecimenofsoilfromwhichmaterialretainedona0,4mmornearestsievehasbeenremoved,usingthefall-conemethod.Thisstandardhasadoptedboththe60g/60°coneandthe80g/30°coneasithasbeenshownthatbothconesgiveessentiallythesamevalueoftheliquidlimit.Otherconedevicesmaybeadoptedprovidedtheycanbeshowntogiveresultsequaltothoseobtainedfromthetestsdescribedherein.NOTETheCasagrandemethodisanalternativemethodforthedeterminationoftheliquidlimit.Experiencehasshownthattheresultsaresubjecttotheperformanceandjudgementoftheoperator.Moreover,theCasagrandetypeapparatusandtestmethodhaveundergonemanysmallbutsignificantvariationssinceitwasfirstproposedbyCasagrandein1932.Thesevariationsgiverisetodifferencesinthevaluesoftheliquidlimitdeterminedfromthetest.Thefall-conemethodisthepreferredmethodofdeterminingtheliquidlimitofasoil.Theplasticlimitofasoilisthelowestwatercontentatwhichthesoilisplastic.Thedeterminationoftheplasticlimitisnormallymadeinconjunctionwiththedeterminationoftheliquidlimit.Itisrecognisedthattheresultsofthetestaresubjecttothejudgementoftheoperator,andthatsomevariabilityinresultswilloccur.TheAtterberglimitsareinfluencedbyoxidationorotherchangesinthespecimen,resultingfromstoringittoolongorotherwisebytreatingitinanunsuitableway.Thisappliesespeciallytoquickclays,sulphideclaysandorganicsoils.
