【摘要】:ThestandardsunderthejurisdictionofCommitteeD11.40andothertechnicalcommitteescanbeusedindividuallyoraspartofanintegratedprotocolintheassessmentandselectionofmedicalgloves.Theintendeduseofthestandardsisasameansbywhichinformationcanberequested,generated,andreportedinaconsistent,comparablemanner.Thesuggestedassessmentsandtestmethodsarerecommendedguidelines.Testmethodsofferproceduresforassessingmedicalglovesatstandardizedconditionstoallowcomparison.Theinformationonmedicalgloveperformancemustbecombinedwithprofessionaljudgment,andaclearunderstandingoftheapplication,inorderforthemedicalglovetoprovidethebestperformance.MedicalglovesintendedforuseduringemergencymedicaloperationsmaybeevaluatedandtheirperformancecertifiedtoNFPA1999,StandardonProtectiveClothingforEmergencyMedicalOperations.Thiscertificationprogramisvoluntary.1.1ThisguideisintendedtoassistintheidentificationandapplicationofthemostappropriateASTMandassociatedstandardsfortheassessment,developmentofspecifications,andselectionofmedicalgloveswiththeultimategoalofmaintainingthesafetyandhealthofhealthcareworkerswhomaycomeintocontactwithbiologicalandchemicalhazards.1.2Noguidancedocumentorassessmentprotocolcanensuretheselectionofmedicalglovesthatguaranteeshealthcareworkerprotection.Thepurposeoftestingandassessingmedicalglovesistogeneratetheperformancedataandqualityinformationthatwillallowthemostappropriateassessmentandselectionofmedicalgloves.Ultimately,theselectionofmedicalglovesshallbebasedontheevaluationofavailabletechnicaldata,qualityinformation,andprofessionalassessmentofrisk.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
